The Pink Pound Experience
The Pink Pound Experience are the orphan love-child of Dr Frankenstein when he decided to cross breed the rock-synth sound of 'Phoenix' with the irresistible hooks and wild vocals of 'Clap Your Hands Say Yeah'.
Drawing influence from their electric 80's childhoods - and a dash of just about everything they've ever heard since thrown in for good measure. The band were recently nominated for a Myspace choice award for best 'Up And Coming' band and were the 2009 MTV42Unheard runners up. With tours of NZ and Oz shows planned for later in 2010 it will be an exciting year.
What sort of album influences The Pink Pound Experience?
Electric Confectionaires - Sweettooth
I guess a NZ album I really enjoy listening to the Electric Confectionaires 'Sweettooth' album. I'm a big supporter of NZ music and i don't think it gets enough credit on the international circuit, and to see 4 guys who were only 18 when the album was recorded making such musically advanced tracks it really makes you realise how fantastic they all are as musicians. I like nearly all of the Devonport bands from around the same era, the White Birds and Lemons have some amazing tracks, and their new Birdland EP is great, shows real potential for them over in Melbourne. Of course 'Alice by the Moon' by The Checks is just brilliant and I think if they keep churning tracks out like 'Crows' and 'You and Me' then they deserve big things.
